George Varghese, is the founder CEO & Managing Director of ExtentorTquila, a software services company in the Enterprise Cloud Computing space with a presence in Australia, India, UK, Germany and Japan. Before founding Extentor in 2011 George worked in the IT industry for 21 years. George spent the first 12 years of his career in Japan, starting from 1990. He joined Infosys Technologies Limited in 1996 to help start their Japanese operation in Tokyo. He also managed a joint venture between Infosys and KennichiOhmae, the world renowned management consultant from Japan and an author to several best sellers.
Post Japan George worked for Infosys in Australia for 8 years eventually leading their Banking and Capital Markets business unit for the ANZ region. In his 14 years with Infosys, George has taken up several other roles including that of Business Development Manager in Japan, Head of Public Sector in Australia, NSW State Sales Manager and Head of Sales for the northern region in Australia. In 1998, George won the Infosys Business Development Award for Outstanding Performance, followed by the Chairman’s Award for Excellence in 2000.
He led the company’s entry into the Korean market during the dot-com era. George was also responsible for negotiating one of the first end-to-end (consulting to implementation) multi-million dollar projects for Infosys. Before joining Infosys, George was with Hitachi as an Application Systems Engineer and prior to that he worked with IBM Japan. George also sits on the board of Tequila International as well as several organisations in the IT and Education sector. He is also a consultant at the Executive Forum of the Coleman Research Group. George is a magician, motorcycle rider and folk dance artist going by his hobbies.
