Jessie Mitchell

Jessie provides leadership and advice, and develops opportunities across Victoria to collaborate with partners across South and South East Asia and in particular India.

Jessie leads a team charged with implementing and coordinating the whole of government actions of Victoria’s India Strategy ‘Our Shared Future’. The Strategy is designed to celebrate Victoria’s personal connections with India and form the foundations for a mutually beneficial partnership. One year into implementation, the Strategy is building on Victoria’s close relationship with India to promote jobs growth and boost the local economy over the next ten years.

Prior to her current appointment, Jessie worked in international engagement roles within higher education for fifteen years. Jessie holds a Grad Dip from RMIT University in Public Policy, a political Science undergrad from the University of Melbourne and has been fortunate to travel to India as part of the City of Melbourne’s Business Mission in 2017 with a focus on Smart Cities. Jessie is a volunteer with West Welcome Wagon, a volunteer run not-for-profit dedicated to providing material aid and support to asylum seekers in Melbourne’s west.
