Andrea Lam

Andrea Lam is the director of Dance Masala Bollywood Dance Company, one of the largest independent Bollywood Dance Companies in Australia. She has been in the Dance Industry for 11 years. In 2012, she launched Dance Masala Bollywood Dance Company. Dance Masala currently offer 13 specialist classes in Bollywood, Bollyhop, Semi-Classical, Bollyfit and Bhangrafunkl and train three performance teams. Andrea’s 11-year career has seen her collaborating with Queensland Symphony Orchestra to create bespoke choreography to accompany renowned Sitar Player Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan Concert performance (2016). She has also choreographed for & worked with major Bollywood Playback singers such as Mika Singh, Neha Kakkar & Jasmine Sandlas. A recent highlight was being invited to choreograph a bespoke, site-specific performance work involving 15 dancers for APT9 Summer Festival’s Up Late Program. In addition to Dance Masala, Andrea also produces the Bollywood Australia Dance Convention (BADC), a three-day expo-style event with professional development, industry events and a dance competition aimed to unify the Indian Dance Community while capacity building. She also was an Event Planner with the Indian Cultural & Sports Club and is instrumental in programming, producing and managing major events such as The Mini-Festival of Indian Dance (2019), Brisbane Holi (2017 & 2018); and Queensland Diwali (2017). She has spoken on panels about creative practice for BrisAsia Festival in 2015 and 2018, and has been a guest speaker of Creative Mornings in 2019.
