Ramya Raman

Ramya Raman is a general practitioner in Perth, Western Australia. Her specific interests are in women’s and children’s health particularly on perinatal health and wellbeing. Ramya completed her medical degree at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle and then completed her specialisation in General Practice with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Ramya is the Chair for RACGP WA Faculty and Board Director of RACGP, where she is involved in policy development, advocacy, and member well-being. She is passionate about the provision of high-quality clinical care and believes training & education are essential components of GP development. To support this, Ramya is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine, University of Notre Dame, Fremantle a clinical supervisor for GPs in Training.

Ramya was awarded the 2020 RACGP WA GP of the Year, and received the Aspire Award 2020 to present her work on postnatal recovery at the World Organisation of Family Doctors (WONCA). She has presented and published papers at national and international conferences and has been an invited keynote speaker at Christian Medical College Foundation (New York) to speak on women in medical leadership. She is passionate about improving women's lives and volunteers with Soroptimist International. She is a media spokesperson for RACGP and a regular guest presenter for ABC Radio, Perth.
