Nikhitha Nelson

Nikhitha Nelson is a final year political science honours student at Lady Shriram College for Women, New Delhi. She was the Deputy Chairperson of India Australia Youth Forum of Global Youth India and has worked extensively in fostering dialogue between Indian and Australian youth on issues ranging from India-Australia relations, educational opportunities, cross-cultural ties, areas of mutual interest etc. She has played a pivotal role in conceptualising and conducting sessions on various topics such as Chat With A Diplomat on Australia-India Relations, Educational Opportunities in Australia for Indian students, discussions and debates to deepen the understanding of the potential of India-Australia relations among the youth of India and Australia.

Nikhitha has worked as the Partnership Coordinator of a youth organization called Geostrata with the Indian Council of World Affairs. She is currently a Research Intern at Kubernein Initiative, working on areas including water security in India and feminist foreign policy. Her research interests include international relations, gender and human security. She is the Editor In Chief of Denouement, the annual International Relations based academic journal of Lady Shriram College. She is keen on working on the humanitarian aspects of conflicts and war and how it affects the vulnerable sections of society. She has published research on Women's Rights In Contemporary Global Politics. Nikhitha aims to become a diplomat and work towards leveraging the power of discussion and dialogue and democratizing the elitist field of international relations to solve common global problems, including climate crisis, conflicts and related human rights violations, and gender and economic inequality.
