Governor-General welcomes young leaders from Australia and India
The distinguished alumni of the Australia India Youth Dialogue will be hosted at a special reception at the iconic Admiralty House in October 2019.
On Wednesday 9 October 2019, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, will welcome young leaders from Australia and India at the Admiralty House in Sydney.
“I am delighted to serve as Patron of the Australia India Youth Dialogue (AIYD), which is the pre-eminent young leaders’ dialogue between Australia and India,” the Governor-General said.
“The relationship between our nations is strong and built on a foundation of shared values, history and economic links. By fostering dialogue and personal connections, the AIYD is strengthening our bond even further both now and into the future.”
Held in Australia and India in alternate years, the AIYD hosts 15 of the best and brightest young leaders from each country enabling a rich exchange of ideas between emerging leaders to think creatively about how the Australia-India relationship can be strengthened.
Young leaders from the field of politics, arts, media, corporate, sports, education, health and entrepreneurship will be among the attendees at the reception.
Manuraj Shunmugasundaram, the Chair of AIYD, said, “The Australia India Youth Dialogue is delighted to be hosted by the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Her Excellency Mrs Hurley at Admiralty House on Wednesday 9 October 2019.”

The association which began during the tenure of Governor-General Peter Cosgrove underlines the importance of the Australia India bilateral relationship and its tremendous potential,” he said.
The next Australia India Youth Dialogue is scheduled from January 18-21 2020 in New Delhi and Chennai.
