Rana Ayyub

Based between Mumbai and Delhi, Rana Ayyub, 31, is a celebratedand political affairs journalist from India . A post graduate in Social Communications Media, she has been credited with some of the best investigative stories, be it from the naxal hotbeds in India , the LTTE turf in Sri Lanka , terror-related stories from Pakistan or human rights essays from Bangladesh. She was until recently working with Tehelka, one of India’s most popular and credible news magazines as Senior Editor, News and Investigations.

Having worked with some of the most prominent media organizations in India and produced award-winning documentaries, she has to her credit revelational exposés on right-wing fundamentalism in India as well as reports on terrorism and conflict-related events in the country.

Her exposé on the faces behind right-wing terror in Maharashtra or on the criminal-political nexus in the encounters in Gujarat have been path breaking and have won her many accolades. Rana’s work was duly recognized by a media organization in India which named her as one amongst the 50 Muslims post independence who have made significant contribution to the society.

It was her body of courageous and inspiring work that got her the prestigious Sanskriti Award for Excellence in Journalism 2011.

An avid reader of biographies and political history and an ardent follower of Urdu poetry and literature, she has travelled across India and the subcontinent to chase news and grasp elements of history. She is at present a columnist with reputed national and international publications while working on her book on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
