Shuba Krishnan

Shuba is a journalist, presenter and communications specialist with more than a decade's experience in Australian and international media. She began her journalism career with the ABC in Sydney in 2013, embarking on a journey that has taken her to Alice Springs, Adelaide, London, Canberra and Melbourne.

Her career spans roles with the ABC, SBS, Nine News, and the BBC in London, covering federal budgets, election campaigns and major political developments. During the height of the pandemic, she reported from the Canberra press gallery, covering federal politics nightly and the change of government at the 2022 federal election. Her international reporting includes covering the Pacific Island Forum in Fiji with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Beyond reporting, Shuba mentors aspiring journalists through Media Diversity Australia, hosts major public events and sits on the reference group for arts and culture think tank, A New Approach. Her journalism background has evolved naturally into a career in international relations and public diplomacy, with a focus on Australia-India relations.

Shuba led communications at the Australia India Institute, where she helped organise the Australia India Leadership Dialogue in Melbourne and the Clean Energy Dialogue in Sydney, and events in India such as AII’s Annual Oration in 2023 and 2024 with Education Minister Jason Clare and Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan. She now heads Strategic Communications at DFAT's Centre for Australia India Relations.

Based in Melbourne, Shuba holds a Bachelor of Journalism and Bachelor of Laws from Bond University in Queensland, and was admitted as a Solicitor in the NSW Supreme Court.
