Saswati Das
Dr. Saswati Das is a physician-scientist and specialist in clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine , with a dynamic portfolio spanning diagnostic innovation, quality management, and space biosciences. Trained in hospital and health systems management, she plays a key role in advancing evidence-based laboratory practices, quality assurance, and digital tools for public health diagnostics.
Dr. Das has led public health responses, notably during the COVID-19 pandemic, and trained laboratory professionals across South Asia and the Middle East. She actively collaborates with scientists from NASA, ESA, JAXA and Australian researchers on projects involving longevity science, space medicine and sustainable biomedical practices. Her commitment to open access innovation includes the development of mobile health applications and AI-enabled diagnostic frameworks. Dr. Das envisions leveraging science diplomacy and cross-sector partnerships to bridge innovation and equity across countries.
A dedicated advocate for gender equity in STEM and global health diplomacy, she is part of several international task forces on sustainable labs, e-learning, and youth leadership in science. Recognized as one of ASCP’s “40 Under 40 Pathologists,” and by the Pathologist magazine’s Power List, she has also been honored by the Royal Society of Chemistry and the United Nations India for her leadership.
