Aayushi Shah
Aayushi is an emerging leader working at the intersection of sustainability, community engagement, and social equity across Australia and the Indo-Pacific. Her work focuses on strengthening community-led approaches to environmental governance, climate change, and sustainable development through systems change, gender equality and inclusive participation.She holds a Master of Environment and Sustainability from Monash University.Aayushi works on interdisciplinary sustainability initiatives, including working with Fire To Flourish (Monash Sustainable Development Institute), championing community-led disaster resilience and recovery for bushfire affected communities in Australia. This work centred Indigenous leadership and knowledge, and worked to innovate complex disaster management systems. She currently is a Development Officer with the World Food Forum Australian Youth Chapter, collaborating for a more sustainable agrifood sector.Aayushi has demonstrated strong leadership throughout her academic career, serving as the postgraduate representative on the Monash University Academic Board and contributing to governance and student representation at the highest decision-making level. In recognition of her academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to social impact, she was awarded the Sir John Monash Medal for Outstanding Achievement in 2022.Outside of work, Aayushi is a nature lover, traveller, artist, and big foodie. You will find her at the beach, trying exciting vegan food, or working on a creative project.
