Bikram Karmakar

Bikram Karmakar is a Sport and Exercise Physician based in Sydney, working across elite sport, healthcare, governance and community health. His work focuses on improving performance and wellbeing within complex systems, from high-performance sporting environments to national health and fitness initiatives.

He holds leadership and governance roles across multiple sectors, including serving on the boards of AUSactive and the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine, and on the Medical Advisory Board for the NSW Combat Sports Authority. He is Clinical Lead at the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (ACSEP) and contributes to the College’s research committee, alongside supporting education initiatives through the James Ruse Agricultural High School Foundation Board.

Clinically, Bikram works with elite athletes across a range of sports, operating within multidisciplinary, high-pressure environments that require complex decision-making and collaboration. He has engaged extensively across the Australia–India corridor through conferences, academic collaboration and sporting exchanges, with a focus on advancing dialogue in sports medicine, health systems and athlete development.

He holds medical and business qualifications from UNSW and the University of Sydney, including an Executive MBA from AGSM. He is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians and the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine, and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
